Flag Run/Walk honoring Veterans in Pineville

The Alexandria/Fort Polk Chapter of Team Red, White and Blue will be hosting a flag run/walk in honor of Louisiana’s veterans. The event will start at Forts Randolph and Buhlow State Historic Site (135 Riverfront Street) in Pineville, LA at 2:00 PM and continue through the grounds of Central State Hospital to the Alexandria National Cemetery located at the corner of Main and Shamrock Streets in Pineville. There a short ceremony will be held. A water stop will be present sponsored by Veteran’s Homecare Solutions. The flag run/walk will resume to the large American flag at the Red River on Main Street and return to the park. Southeast LA Veterans Home – Veterans Day Celebration

Please join us for the annual Veterans Day Celebration at the Southeast LA Veterans Home in Reserve. Parade honoring our Veterans beginning at Home Depot, LaPlace, LA, to begin at 10:00 AM. The route of the parade will be straight down Airline Hwy to the War Veterans Home in Reserve, LA, where the Veterans will be greeted by lines of saluting Young Marines. The fire trucks will display the American flag. We will then begin our Celebration at the Veterans Home.  We have a full program scheduled, including Guest Speakers State Senator Gary Smith, Lt. General Richard Mills, USMC, St. John Sheriff Mike Tregre, and St. John Parish President Natalie Robottom. Our Administrator Mr. Cleveland Obey will give opening remarks. We have the Marine Corps League coming to do a Flag Folding Ceremony. The St. James VFW Post 5852 will have a 21 gun salute and taps. The Louis Ford Jazz Band from the French Quarter in New Orleans will be our entertainment. POW/MIA representatives will be in attendance. A special poem has been written and will be read by Janice Church. Our Veterans Council President will also speak. A balloon release is also planned. Rededication of Freedom Flame in Alexandria
