Record Attendance
1200 participants were in attendance this year, along with the LANGEA Auxiliary. Both organizations approved complete Bylaws revisions during their business sessions. These revisions will allow us some flexibility on dues structures and discounts for new members, new awards programs, and we elected new Directors who will represent their units during our LANGEA Board of Directors Meetings.
Guest Speakers on hand during the Business Session were CMSgt Denise Jelinski-Hall, ANG Retired. Chief Jelinski-Hall was the first National Guard Senior Enlisted Leader to a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and she had some great insight into how she arrived at the pinnacle of her career. CPL Daniel Elkins, our new Director of Government Affairs for our National Association, EANGUS, was also on hand to deliver the message that we need a strong voice on Capitol Hill, now more than ever.
LANGEA presented their $2,000 Scholarships to the 2014 winners and we had Mrs. Joycelyn Lopez, the widow of Anthony Lopez (our Scholarship namesake), on hand to receive a standing ovation during the banquet for more than three decades of support to LANGEA. Also in attendance was Mr. Al O’Dowd, one of our oldest Lifetime members, and his wife Mrs. June O’Dowd who was our first LANGEA Auxiliary President.
Congratulations to our Senior Enlisted Leaders, CMSgt Shelton and CSM Stiefvater on winning the 2014 Minuteman Musket Awards for their tireless service to LANGEA and their leadership in getting us to ever higher levels of membership in the coming months.
