On Wednesday, March 25th, the association’s Legislative Director, Scott Bousum, testified on behalf of EANGUS to members of the House Armed Services Military Personnel Subcommittee. He was joined at the witness table by:

Brendon Gehrke (VFW), Mike Hayden (MOAA), Chris Neiweem (IAVA), Karen Ruedisueli (NMFA) and John Stovall (American Legion).

The subcommittee was taking testimony on the views of certain military and veterans’ service organizations concerning the recommendations made by the Military Compensation and Retirement Modernization Commission.

The overriding premise behind the hearing was the opposition or non-support of The Military Coalition associations towards the commission’s recommendations. The hearing surrounded healthcare; retirement and compensation; quality of life issues; as well as some general questions on trends and perspectives.

HASC-PanelScott was in friendly territory when testifying—he is a former HASC staffer where he worked for four years on the Tactical Air and Land Forces subcommittee.  One of the sub-committee members present was EANGUS Life Member and Retired Command Sergeant Major Tim Walz (DFL-MN).

Scott was still in awe of the opportunity to testify—it was his first time on the other side of the table, facing his former colleagues.

The hearing is on the Armed Services YouTube channel.
