The Blue Star Mothers of Louisiana Chapter 1 would like to cordially invite you and family and friends to our first annual Garden of Flags and Memorial Day Ceremony.
We will be planting 10,000 American Flags on the grounds of the State Capitol in Baton Rouge on Friday, May 23rd starting at noon. Each flag will represent a Louisiana citizen who has given their life while serving his country since the American Revolutionary War to the current war in Afghanistan. We are inviting other organizations and the public to attend and help us in planting these flags.
Then on Saturday, May 24th, at 10:00 a.m. at the steps of the State Capitol, the Blue Star Mothers will host a Memorial Day ceremony where the names of the fallen from 9/11 to today will be read and the Gold Star Families will be invited to plant a flag in memory of their loved one.
The flags will remain planted until dusk on Memorial Day.
This will be a very moving tribute that you won’t want to miss. Please help us spread the word by forwarding this email and inviting your friends. We hope you will make every effort to attend. Attached is a more detailed explanation of this event.
If you have any questions, please feel free to email or call me. I can be reached at 225-270-2537.
In the spirit of those who serve,
Janet Broussard
